The Challenge
Shree Pragya Flexifilm Industries was approached to tackle the issue of fog formation on food packaging products by a cherished client. This issue led to their product losing its freshness, nutrients and aesthetic appeal, affecting both quality and product visibility.
The client required packaging films that could address fog formation, while keeping the taste, texture and freshness of the food intact. Our team researched the root cause, which was the water droplet formation due to the difference in surface tension between the film and droplets. The conventional films are highly hydrophobic and non-polar, resulting in water condensing on the film surface in small droplets with high contact angles.
The Solution
Keeping the challenge in mind, we understood the unique requirement of the client- A cling film that has excellent anti-fogging properties, high-transparency and high-product visibility, which appeals to target customers. Anti-fog film works on the mechanism of using special additives that make the film’s surface hydrophilic. So instead of creating light-scattering droplets, the moisture is spread out into a thin transparent layer across the film’s surface, maintaining clarity and visibility.
Employing Keep Fresh technology & treated with anti-fogging properties, we designed and developed our PE cling film that met & exceeded their expectations. The anti-fog additives used are EC and FDA-approved & food-contact safe, which implies, our client could market their food products across the globe without worrying about stringent packaging standards.
