The Correct Way to Hand Wrap Pallet Using Stretch Film
Are you wrapping your pallets properly? Pallets are wrapped with stretch films to contain and protect goods using transit, or handling. If the pallet is not wrapped properly, it can result in poor load containment, product damage, or injuries to the labour force working with them. This is why it is crucial to wrap pallets properly to ensure the goods’ safety and prevent damage or injuries. This is a quick guide to help you understand the correct way to wrap a pallet using stretch films.
Simple Techniques to Ensure Securing Pallet Load
- There should be a consistent containment force in the bottom, middle, and top load on the pallet.
- Ensure to use top-notch stretch films that are tightly wrapped around the pallet.
- Make sure there are no loose ends or dragging film tails
- The load containment needs to be locked tightly on the pallet
Importance of Stretch Film Wrapping
Many industries are unaware of the resources they are wasting with inefficient pallet wrapping. Wrapping pallets can be challenging, especially when done manually.
Shree Pragya Techpack engineers hand grade PE stretch film to minimize the required film to wrap a pallet while maintaining optimum load containment. With our unwavering commitment and technical expertise, we have created a high-performance range of stretch films with superior stretch yield & puncture resistance than other conventional films.
How to Handwrap a Pallet Using Stretch Film?
- The pallet load should be tightly stacked so there is no space between the goods for lateral movement.
- The pallet you are using should withstand the requirement for load stability, so place the outer face of the stretch film towards the product to be wrapped.
- Remember, if the pallet is wrapped incorrectly, use the outer face of the film away from the pallet; it can lead to inter-pallet adhesion and loose film tails.
- Ensure to apply a minimum of three layers of stretch film around the base of the pallet before you move to the middle and top.
- Stretch the film upto you when you feel a resistance; ensure not to over-stretch the film. Also, ensure that you maintain a distance of at least 300mm away from the load as you wrap around the pallet.
- Now, continue to wrap it will upwards. Remember, wrapping the corners needs extra care as this is the area that puts the most stress on the stretch film.
- After you reach the top of the pallet, secure the load with at least two layers.
- Once you complete the first layer, cut the stretch film at least 30 cm from the corner of the pallet. Finish the wrapping with a smooth finish by pressing the film tail to the pallet. Tie the end of the film to the pallet securely.
